Brian Doss
Analyst

Brian P. Doss is a sixteen-year Public Safety veteran with nine years of experience as a school safety practitioner. He currently serves as the Director of Public Safety and Security for the Carroll County School System in Carrollton, Georgia. The Carroll County School System consists of twenty-three schools, serving over 15,000 students just west of Atlanta. Previously, Brian served in the role of School Resource Officer with the Carrollton Police Department, School Safety Coordinator with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency - Office of the Governor, and as a school system Risk Management Director and Public Information Officer. Brian holds numerous law enforcement certifications and has a degree in Criminal Justice Technology.

His current position serves as the primary liaison between public safety officials and the school system, overseeing the School Resource Officer program and implementing safety awareness and training programs throughout the system. He also directs the system in emergency operations planning, safety inspections, site-based threat analysis, and loss prevention/risk management activities.

He also serves as the Risk Management Director for the Carroll County School System and previously held the position of Public Information Officer.

His past experience includes:

  • Serving as an Area School Safety Coordinator for the Georgia Emergency Management Agency - Office of the Governor (GEMA), providing training, technical assistance, and incident response throughout Georgia. The training he provided covered the areas of emergency operations planning, crisis response, bomb threat management and visual weapons screening for the emergency management, public safety and professional education communities throughout the state of Georgia.
  • Serving for nine years with the City of Carrollton, Georgia Police Department where he worked as a Patrol Officer, School Resource Officer, Shift Supervisor and as a Traffic Accident Investigator/Supervisor.
  • Being given the distinction of Outstanding Officer of the Year for the Carrollton Police Department in 1998.
  • Receiving Intermediate, Advanced, Supervision, Field Training Officer and Instructor certifications from the Peace Officers Standards and Training Council of Georgia.
  • Earning over 1,500 hours of on-going professional training in areas including Supervision, Management, Accident Investigation, School Safety, Traffic Law, Emergency Management, Domestic Terrorism, Risk Management and Worker’s Compensation.
  • Serving as a Guest Instructor for the Georgia Public Safety Training Center, State University of West Georgia Department of Education, Georgia Association of School Resource Officers, and numerous other training conferences.
  • Co-authoring two books on school safety and being published in numerous school safety trade publications.
