Glass Slippers, Glass Houses and Glass Ceilings – Overcoming Adversity
Can be presented by Dr. Sonayia Shepherd

Most professionals have to cope with ignorance, limited resources, politics, racism, sexism, age discrimination and other types of barriers to success.  But some people are able to achieve astounding levels of success in spite of significant odds due to a focus on their own strengths instead of the barriers we all face.  This humorous keynote shows how anyone can achieve their potential in spite of the barriers that exist in almost setting.  Dr. Shepherd practices what she preaches having graduated from high school at the age of sixteen, completed two master’s degrees and her Ph.D. while publishing sixteen books and became an international figure in her field by age thirty in spite of these and other obstacles.  Attendees will see how they can achieve even more in their roles as advocates for the children.
