This session outlines techniques to provide 3-dimensional media relations during a crisis situation. The course will also provide participants with an interactive experience on preparing individuals and organizations to handle media inquiries and how to avoid the pitfalls of unauthorized staff members giving unauthorized media interviews during the chaos of an actual event. Additionally, the course will include practical exercises using realistic Safe Havens Video Scenarios to offer participants an interactive way to improve situational awareness before a crisis in order to plan effective media interaction. After the course, the participants will be able to create effective press releases, deliver media savvy sound bites and interviews as well as respond effectively to different audiences (parents, teachers, students, administration, community, media, etc) and inquires during and after a crisis.
